His passion for neurology led him to further specialize in this field, culminating in the attainment of the MRCP(UK)(Neurology) specialty certificate and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in neurology.

Driven by an intrigue with the complexities of neurological conditions, particularly headaches, Dr. Bose engaged in advanced research at King’s College London. Utilizing arterial spin-labeled (ASL) MRI technology, he uncovered new insights into migraines, earning a Doctorate in Clinical Neuroscience for his groundbreaking work. In recognition of his significant contributions to the medical field, Dr. Bose has been honored with Fellowships from both The Royal College of Physicians, London, and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Now based in Auckland, Dr. Bose leverages his international experience and the latest advancements in neurology to offer comprehensive care. His expertise includes treating chronic migraines with innovative therapies such as Botox, greater occipital nerve blocks, and neuromodulation techniques, including non-invasive vagal nerve stimulation. He is at the forefront of investigating the potential of CGRP monoclonal antibodies in treating headache disorders, drawing on his previous involvement in clinical trials for this innovative class of drugs.

American Headache Society – Early Career Award

Ray was recognised as a co-author on a study that received the prestigious Early Career Award from the American Headache Society. The award-winning research, published in Headache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, explored changes in brain connectivity during different phases of a triggered migraine attack using advanced neuroimaging techniques.

Association of British Neurologists Annual Meeting – Poster Recognition
At the 2017 Annual Meeting of the Association of British Neurologists in Liverpool, Ray was a co-author of a poster presentation titled:
Karsan, Bose, Thompson, Goadsby. The similarities between spontaneous and nitroglycerin-triggered premonitory symptoms in migraineurs.

The poster was selected among the top six presentations at the meeting, recognising its contribution to advancing understanding of early migraine symptoms.
